Recovery time

7:34. Nurse shift change so we have to leave the room. Grabbing dinner.....you guessed it, chicken fingers! Jacob looks better than I expected so I was emotional but so relieved when I saw him. God is good!

He is groggy from the morphine and cranking a little but we are able to calm him easily. At this point it's not pain but hunger. The nurses are impressed with his appetite and slowly letting us give him more breast milk. I feel better knowing he is getting my milk.

The nurses put on soft lion king music and jacob seems to relax to it. I also find it very calming! Otherwise he is relaxing and sucking on his soother which they have been good about giving to him.

Thanks again for all the love! We certainly feel it and it's keeping us strong!

Xoxo. Until tomorrow!

  1. Hey Monica, I'm so glad things went well and recovery is going as smooth as can be. I wanted to let you know that I've been thinking of you all day, and praying for little Jacob (I've tried to post comments a few times now, but i'm not having much success!, hopefully this one goes through). I am glad he has been able to get your milk (best healer of all), and that you are able to be with him. I can't imagine how hard this is for you, and I think you are doing great, and the worst part is over now.

    love you lots!

  3. Jacob is King of the Soother! He can smile, laugh, and giggle with it in his mouth! I am so happy he finds comfort in it, and that you are able to be there and calm him when he needs you. You can always sing 'my' song to him too! I wish I was there to sing it to him myself! Better yet, I wish we were all there so that we could sing it together with Jared providing an off-key harmony and Magdusia growling in the background! You guys did AMAZING today! Thank God for His goodness!
